RECENT NEWS - Updated 1/22/2008

Now the rebuilding of the Bar B is on the horizon - when the snow melts which will be probably late March or in April.

Plans are to first install a mile of new water pipe as the old pipe melted. That project will be done with local help and Andy Deming my caretaker who is returning to supervise the log reconstruction. Once there is water the workers can stay up there with bathroom facilities and have all their meals there.

Next is to build two lean-tos each of which can sleep six people out of the weather and on good deep straw. Everyone will have to bring his/her own sleeping bags etc. as all 30 of mine burnt completely. After that is to rebuild the bath house. All buildings will be built with logs. Then but not last is to build a new log kitchen and dining room that will look like the old ones but are larger. They will be located right on the sites of the original structures.

Perhaps if there are enough friends willing to work we can have some of them working on the kitchen and dining room while the others are working on the rebuilding the 1/3 of the corrals which burned. I will need strong people to lift logs (although we'll have a tractor on hand to help lift the logs) as well as being handy with a hammer, saw and a T square. Anyone who can cook for the crew is very very welcome.

I have three week-long workshops in photography to lead throughout the summer. These workshops will help cover some of the cost of materials for the rebuilding. Fortunately Andy, my caretaker who has built many log cabins, will supervise the log reconstruction throughout the summer.

I wish I could offer to pay everyone who is kind enough to come work. I can offer camaraderie, good food, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, clean air, great views, and my deep, heartfelt gratitude. Bring yourselves, your talents, skills, your good nature, a sleeping bag, your personal changes of clothing and anything else you think necessary.

Let me know when you can come and when you would like to come. This will be kind of like an old fashion barn raising. Friends helping a friend!!
